10 Most Embarrassing Onstage Moments In Rock
1. Giving Fred Durst A Guitar
Any rock fan who's been to a concert is no stranger to the solo section of the act. No matter how much the frontman might want to tear it up when onstage, it doesn't get any better than when you have a gifted guitarist really showing their stuff onstage, going through more notes per second than most of us could even imagine. For as much as people think stuff like that is easy, Fred Durst is here to prove why you should do your homework before taking a solo.
Then again, it's a wonder if Fred Durst had even played guitar very much at all before this incident, since most of his onscreen antics have involved him only rapping in between the verses of Limp Bizkit songs. Going into this solo section, the only explanation for Durst coughing it up the way he did feels akin to when your friend straps on your guitar and does what he thinks you're doing without having any proper training.
Compared to the other solos in the rock pantheon, this is pretty pathetic, with Durst only working out a few bends and a bunch of electronic noise before he eventually just leaves the guitar alone. While a few hiccups here and there might be a bit understandable during a show, this is probably the closest to a real life version of a SHREDS video that you'll ever see.
