10 Most Expensive Rock Music Videos Of All Time

8. Push It - Garbage ($750,000)

Rather than a cover of the Salt-n-Pepa classic, Garbage's Push It is a dark and grungy affair.

Taken from their 1998 album Version 2.0, the song is about attempting to fit in with those around you whilst carrying your own personal baggage. Quite a big concept, then; one that clearly needed a lot of money to explore in visual form.

The video for Push It kicks off with a group of people dressed as Nuns pulling up outside an abandoned supermarket in a van full of weapons. The armed sisters soon become an afterthought as the rest of the video unfolds. Cue some twin dancing aliens, a group of creepy children, and a man with a lightbulb for a head.

There's no story whatsoever to this video; it's just a bunch of non-sequiturs presented in various different art styles and colour gradients.

And it cost $750,000 to make.

This titanic budget was more than made up for in recognition, as Push It scooped up 13 nominations at the MTV Video Music Awards. Also, it stands out as one of the most creative and visually stunning videos from the entire 1990s.
