10 Most IMPORTANT Rock Musicians Of The 90s

9. Noel Gallagher

The state of rock in Britain was a bit of a mixed bag during the grunge era. For as much as acts like Bush tried to opt the trends that were coming from Seattle, most other alternative acts like the Stone Roses were not the best fit to put alongside acts like Soundgarden. Once grunge started to fall by the wayside though, everything changed with a songwriter from Manchester.

Originally being just a roadie for Inspiral Carpets, Noel Gallagher's way with writing songs gave us some of the most essential anthems of the decade when he formed Oasis alongside his brother Liam. While the other vocal Gallagher was definitely an animal unto himself, Noel really was the mastermind that drove the entire operation, from creating amazing rock throwdowns on Rock N Roll Star to winning your heart over with tracks like Don't Look Back in Anger and the Masterplan.

Even when he would unabashedly steal from his influences, Noel's outlook on his songwriting never faltered in the process. To him, it wasn't so much about where the music came from so long as you were building on the foundation of rock and roll and taking it to the next level. Whereas most bands try to make something entirely original every time, Noel Gallagher's entire success is proof enough that sometimes rock and roll is really all you need.
