10 Most Influential Electronic Rock Artists

1. Nine Inch Nails

From the minute that Trent Reznor started getting into music, he already had a plan of what he wanted to accomplish. Being a die hard fan of people like the Cure and Depeche Mode, Trent assembled Nine Inch Nails under his own name to create some of the most disturbed music that he would ever make. In the years since the group's start though, Trent has gone into a studio with a keyboard and has gone absolutely berzerk.

On each Nine Inch Nails record, Trent has never gone the easy route when it comes to making something truly haunting, whether it be through the right use of audio effects or the kind of abrasive production that makes everything feel like the walls are closing in around you. While Trent has chops on every instrument he touches, his true genius is in the producer's chair, where he brings those effects into a cacophony of sounds and makes for something that can peel the flesh off bones if it needs to.

When you listen to something like With Teeth or The Downward Spiral, every song feels like Trent taking the building blocks of rock and roll and twisting them every which way to create something that's almost unrecognizable from what it was originally. It might not be the most pleasing thing to listen to every time, but damn if it isn't absolutely beautiful when it all comes together.
