10 Most Obscure Punk Bands Of All Time

6. Dangerous Girls

Taking their name from a newspaper headline, Dangerous Girls (actually an all-male outfit) formed in the Moseley area of Birmingham, England, in 1978, and survived for four years before disbanding. During that time, the band released three singles and one EP, gaining a fair amount of attention and a large local following thanks to their adventurous and challenging sound.

Decidedly in the same bracket as such celebrated groups as UB40, Dexy's Midnight Runners and The Beat, all of whom Dangerous Girls supported live, it's something a mystery as to the early demise of this band, especially given the promise of their striking self-titled debut single – a delirious slice of slow-burning punk built on a reggae groove.

Grainy footage of the band in their heyday can be found on the internet, and shows that they were equally good live as on record. Dangerous Girls re-united in 2012 for a series of live shows, followed by a limited edition album of entirely new material.
