10 Most Outrageous Lead Singers In Punk Rock Music
1. GG Allin
Self-mutilation, public sex acts, onstage defecation and displays of extreme violence, GG Allin did it all. Allin never reached the same level of public recognition as Johnny Rotten, and his music was never going to be regarded alongside the Clash's, but this guy was the true embodiment of punk rock. He didn't push the envelope, he shat in it.
During the '80s and early '90s, Allin gathered a cult following of fans, enthralled by his wild antics and dangerous charisma. His shows were notorious for violence. Allin would purposefully antagonise the crowd, exposing himself on stage, covering himself in his own filth, and getting into fights.
During his later years, he became a staple on American talk shows, appearing both on Jerry Springer and Geraldo. When the conservative right, feared that rock 'n' roll would corrupt the youth and lead to devil worship, Allin was the guys who gave their concerns credence.
He openly admitted to being a proponent of violence, and sadomasochism, and would often state that if he wasn't a performer, he'd be a serial killer. Although Allin had promised to commit suicide on stage, he died from an accidental overdose in 1993.
