10 Most Timeless Classic Rock Albums

4. Appetite for Destruction - Guns N Roses

If you want to find some really dated music, look no further than the ‘80s. While the futuristic sounds of synthesizers may have been the best sound of the day, the more bombastic sounding productions end up sounding pretty cheap nowadays. Most of the hair metal music tends to fall into this category as well, but Appetite for Destruction still sounds like it's coming from the dirty streets of LA.

At the time, Guns N Roses were already a shock to the system, playing songs that both fit in with the glam aesthetic and had the all-encompassing force of hard rock. Even with their debut album having 30 years under its belt, it still has that raw passion that comes from musicians with nothing to lose and the world at their feet. Though something like Poison’s “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” sounds like a relic of the glam movement, the opening guitar melody of “Sweet Child O Mine” can still leap out of your speakers.

As far as the heavy hitters go, the power of songs like “Welcome to the Jungle” or “Mr. Brownstone” still feels like you’re watching a couple of rock stars coming into the room and jamming. With bands still trying to figure out the magic behind the record, Appetite For Destruction is one of those few classic records that still sounds the future of rock.
