10. Battles
When it comes to innovation alone this electronic trio provide it in spades, as the band's ability to forge any sort of song structure amidst the chaotic electronic synths or propulsive and frenzied drumbeats is an achievement in itself, but they somehow craft these musical fragments into worthwhile songs. Their debut release Mirrored caught the imagination of critics who pined over the fragmented but exciting unpredictability on display, with songs like the theatrical Africastle from their latest album Gloss Drop and the glorious repetitiveness of "Atlas" from Mirrored revealing a band that does not operate within the conventional methods of songwriting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpGp-22t0lU This persistence musically may be what holds them back from bigger successes in the industry but that is also what makes their music so appealing. The unpredictable framework they work within has created some of the most interesting experimental music of the past 10 years.
