10 Most Underrated David Bowie Albums

2. Reality

There was a little bit of waxing and waning for Bowie as he entered the 21st century. Coming off of the experimental gaming endeavor with his album Hours..., his return to form with Heathen left a few fans colder than would have liked to admit. Even though fans may have wanted the classic Bowie, now was no time for looking back. It was time for a dose of Reality.

Free from his previous output, this record is a sign of Bowie getting back in touch with his roots again. Given that the past few years saw him going down the road of electronic music, the idea of actually making an all-out rock and roll record was probably the more risky move that Bowie could have done at this point. Instead of coming off like another by the numbers rock and roll record, this is what a return to form should sound like, with songs like Bring Me the Disco King and New Killer Star being fabulous bookends for this throwback vision.

However, this tour ended up being the catalyst for Bowie's onstage heart attack, which sidelined him for the next few years in the spotlight. It would be a little while before we would see the Starman back in action behind the mic, but if he was to retire on this album, it would have been one hell of a note to go out on.
