10 Most Underrated Hard Rock Albums Of The 2000's
8. Danger Days - My Chemical Romance
My Chemical Romance had an absolutely stellar year in 2006. After releasing one of the greatest rock operas of the decade with the Black Parade, the band launched a tour where they would perform the entire record in full as the titular Black Parade and play their other hits afterwards. You already see the problem here don't you? How the hell are you supposed to top that?
There was pretty much no way Danger Days could have lived up to the dark perfection of its predecessor, but looking back, MCR actually gave it a fair shot. Operating as another concept record of sorts, this album takes you on a trip through a dystopian desert landscape a la Mad Max, with the band playing outlaws known as the Fabulous Killyjoys. The plot of the story doesn't necessarily weave together as fluidly as the Black Parade, but songs like "Party Poison" and "Na Na Na" show that they still had that rock and roll fire inside them.
The band also take time on this record to experiment with other styles like the swaying balladry of "SCARECROW" or the electronic production laced throughout "Bulletproof Heart." This might not be the most spellbinding release in the band's catalog, but considering the band's breakup was imminent, this is still a great way to wrap up your recording career.
