10 Most Underrated Indie Rock Albums Of 2020s (So Far)
7. The Killers - Imploding The Mirage
It's not often that an album spear-headed by Brandon Flowers and his well-known Killers flies under the radar. But in 2020's Imploding the Mirage, the band's journey into more unusual and refreshing territory took an unexpectedly western turn for the intriguing.
Now, for those angling to hear what brought the team to the dance in the first place, the band offer up the single of Caution, the sort of summer hit designed to be let rip with the car roof down as you hurtle down the highway.
But that theme of galloping quickly with the wind in your hair is best summed up throughout Dying Breed, with the rumbling bass conjuring up the feel of hooves thundering off the Utah (where the collection was partially recorded) sand as you'll no doubt tear around whatever bedroom or dance floor you happen to find yourself on.
However, this respected if not wholeheartedly adored album really finds its feet in Lightning Fields (feat k.d. lang), a song harnessing the '80s charm of a John Waite number with longing lyrics like "Run my fastest and stand beside you/In the lightning field of love" being the stuff of chest-beating glory by the time it rides off into the sunset.
