10 Most Unsung Heroes In Rock History

3. Josh Freese - Various

There are probably a lot of rock fans who don't have the first clue who Josh Freese is, and for good reason. Throughout his tenure, he has rarely been featured as the premiere artist in whatever band he finds himself in. Though most people don't recognize Freese in name, his sound is something that is more felt then heard.

For the past 30 years, Freese has built up quite the resume in rock and roll as one of the greatest session drummers ever to step behind a kit. Coming from a musical family, Freese's touch behind the drumkit is one of the most eclectic in rock history. Ever since his beginnings, he has spanned the genres of hard rock, metal, and even pop rock in his time, with credits on albums by Weezer, Nine Inch Nails, and My Chemical Romance just to name a few.

It doesn't stop there though, with him being a touring drummer for Devo and even finding a band of his own in A Perfect Circle alongside Maynard James Keenan. His brother is also no slouch either, with Jason Freese being the keyboardist and touring member of Green Day for the past decade. So next time you throw on some of your favorite hard rock songs, chances are you may just see Freese's name pop up every now and again.
