10 Most Volatile & Aggressive Prodigy Songs

8. Their Law

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4swgmtloLe4 After the wonderful debut album Experience, The Prodigy took an unexpected musical turn with the follow up release Music For The Jilted Generation in '94. They shifted somewhat for the straight up rave of Experience and opted for a darker, more edgy sound making Jilted one of the most influential dance albums of all time. The album felt like a defiant stand against the authorities at the time who were trying to ban certain aspects of rave culture. It also saw the group delve into a dark industrial-electro sound mixed with punk-rock ethics for the first time. No song better displayed these two major changes than the raging 'Their Law'. Sonically the track is in the top echelon of full on aural assaults for the group as they propel the song forward using a mean guitar riff, perfectly fitting breakbeat drumming that fluctuates throughout and aggressive statements of intent on the vocal samples. This was indeed a turning point for the group, an extremely British creation that still took influences from groups like Rage Against The Machine and their ilk in a way that wasn't just carbon copying but more in terms of their rebellious ethos. The track is still a live favorite and it's easy to see why. This is The Prodigy's defining, middle finger salute to whoever might foolishly try to get in their way.
