10 Music Artists Who Released Their Best Album Last
4. Sublime - Sublime
Sublime came at a time where there were so many incredible alt-rock artists, yet their last, self-titled release in 1996 wielded some of the decade's most recognisable tunes.
Santeria still echoes through the walls of frat parties and skater's bedrooms everywhere, and What I Got is a not-so guilty pleasure for anyone who cut their alt-rock teeth on the likes of No Doubt, 311, and The Offspring.
Trashy Etinies trainers, oversized jeans and unbuttoned party shirts were the flavour of much of Sublime's audience, and their self-titled album left fans wanting more, as it was surely the best of their three studio releases. Lead singer Bradley Nowell's song writing ability was on full display, with often scathing social commentary being balanced by upbeat topics that made such songs infinitely replayable.
Sublime's 1996 album was their last as the band in their original line-up, as Nowell sadly died of a drug overdose in the spring of the same year. That meant the record was released after his death, and while the remaining members later reformed with a new frontman and toured as 'Sublime With Rome', their discography was never as beloved as it was in the mid 1990's.
