10 Music Easter Eggs You Never Realised Were In Famous Albums
7. The Monty Python Matching Tie And Hankerchief
An easter egg from a bygone era, but one of the most clever and humorous on this list. The Monty Python Matching Tie And Handkerchief was released in 1973 by comedy group Monty Python, and was packed full of the group's usual hilarious skits.
In typical Python fashion, however, it contained a gag with the potential to seriously confuse listeners. Originally released as a vinyl, the record contained what are known as 'double grooves'. In essence, the grooves in which the turntable needle is placed were actually concentric. Two grooves side by side meant that completely different material would be played depending on where the stylus was placed. Not only that, but the album didn't feature a track list, meaning the listener would have no idea why their second listen of the album was producing a completely new set of songs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOPwHjyRAls
