Dimebag Darrell had made a name for himself with his band Pantera, one of the most intense metal bands the 90's had ever seen. After the band imploded in the mid 2000's, Darrell and his brother Vinnie Paul formed the band Damageplan and went on the road for a small club tour.

During a stop in Ohio, the band were not even a minute into their set when a deranged fan stormed the stage and killed Dimebag with a handgun. The man went on to kill more concertgoers before being shot down by first-responders. But the beating heart of Pantera had been silenced.

While musicians had been assassinated before, Dimebag's murder onstage was one of the most senseless acts of violence that the music world had ever experienced.

Although Dime had a horrific end, many fans tend to remember him in a positive light, and rightfully so.
