In the early 90's, Metallica joined forces with Guns N Roses for a joint headline tour. About halfway through the tour' tenure, the bands stopped in Montreal. This gig was poised to be one of the rock's monumental moments, but turned to catastrophe real quick.

During Metallica's performance, things went wrong during the song "Fade to Black." Unsure of where to stand, James Hetfield was badly burned by a nearby chemical flame canister. Without their frontman, Metallica abruptly ended their set. As Metallica quickly left, the upset audience waited two hours for Guns N Roses to take the stage.

When Guns finally came out, frontman Axl Rose got through only a handful of songs before ending his band's set early because of problems with the vocal monitor. And the crowd went ballistic. Fans started storming into the stands and proceeded to tear the concert venue apart. It was so out of control that riot police were brought in to stop the crowd's antics.

Thankfully, Hetfield made a complete recovery from his burns and continued on with the tour in a cast. But the ripples of this infamous gig still reverberate through the hard rock world to this day.
