4. Slash Goes Down Like a Ragdoll
If you were anywhere near the Sunset Strip in the '80s, you couldn't survive without having something being shoved up your nose. So when you're in the self-proclaimed Most Dangerous Band, you have to live up to that expectation time and time again. But when you finally hit the big time, it becomes a little harder to function when you have so much junk in your veins.
Before the Use Your Illusion tour even started, Slash was already in a bad spot, having been addicted to alcohol and heroin for a few years at this point. Though he was able to function onstage most of the time, it got pretty ugly when he was found unresponsive in the lobby of a hotel after the gig. In his own words, Slash collapsed in front of the elevator and blacked out. If you ask the roadie though, it's a miracle Slash is even here.
When the medics got to him, Slash was already dead, colored almost blue and having virtually no pulse before the EMTs gave him a shot of adrenaline to revive him. That didn't stop Slash from hitting the bottle a bit more afterwards, only quitting for good in the mid '00s. Granted, rocking your ass off...almost dying...and doing it all over again...that's all in a day's work for Guns N Roses, isn't it?
