Curtis Jame Jackson III was at the place most people feel safest - grandma’s house - when he was nearly assassinated.
Jackson got into the backseat of a car whilst retrieving some jewellery from his grandmother’s home in South Jamaica when another car pulled up alongside. At that point a man got out of the arriving car and fired nine shots at close range into Jackson, hitting him in the hand, arm, hip, legs, chest, and left cheek.
Jackson spent thirteen days in hospital, and the facial injury has left him with a permanently swollen tongue and slurred speech.
The assailant, Daryl Baum, was a bodyguard of Mike Tyson. He was found killed three weeks after the attempt on Jackson’s life.
