10 Non Rock Albums That Rock Music Fans Love
5. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy - Kanye West
It seems like ages ago where a man like Kanye West may have been considered falling from grace. Although he has gone off the deep end more times than we can even count these days, the fallout of 808s & Heartbreak was enough for almost everyone to turn their back on him, not willing to go down the electronic rabbit hole than he used to cope with losing some of the most important people in his life. 808s may have gotten its due in recent years, but My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy was the sound of Yeezy hitting the reset button.
Looking to make one of the most ambitious hip hop records ever made, the production on this album might be the most larger than life thing about it, taking the building blocks of every single genre imaginable and stuffing it under one roof. That means taking the hip hop when it's time to take it, and that also means a hell of a lot of rock and roll as well, from sampling King Crimson on POWER or interpolating different pieces of rock samples to create a progressive rock take on hip hop, like the Elton John piano on All of the Lights or bringing in the lick from Black Sabbath's Iron Man for Hell of a Life.
In between the more sample heavy stuff though, this is Kanye looking to make himself one of the biggest stars in the world, creating a big enough musical throne to fit him. While the actual fallout of Ye becoming larger than life has been an EXTREMELY mixed blessing, you couldn't really mess with him when he had the tunes to back it up here.
