10 Outrageous Hard Rock Stories

4. Vince Neil Getting Girls And Booze Smuggled Into Jail

Mötley Crüe certainly aren't everyone’s cup of tea, but goddamn, did these guys know how to party. Sure, everyone’s heard of Tommy Lee’s saucy honeymoon video with Pamela Anderson, but if you want some real tales of rock star hedonism then get yourself a copy of The Dirt - a collaborative autobiography of the band's excesses during their rise to fame.

Whilst on tour with Ozzy Osbourne in 1980, the band took part in 'gross-out' competitions. These involved snorting cocaine, followed by a line of ants, and drinking each other’s urine...

All of this excess came to a head in December 1984, however, when lead singer Vince Neil - drunk and on the hunt for more booze - smashed his sports car into another vehicle. The crash resulted in both passengers in the other car being seriously injured and Neil’s own passenger, Hanoi Rocks Drummer, Razzle, being tragically killed.

Neil paid $2.6 million in restitutions to the victims and was sentenced to a mere 30 days in jail, ultimately only serving 15 for ‘good behaviour’. Ironic, as Neil has admitted that during his time in jail, his guards, who were fans, helped him smuggle booze and girls into his cell.

If that isn’t a tale of rock star privilege, what is?
