10 Most Overblown Stage Productions In Music Today

10. Rammstein

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCeF1-xLFek The German six-piece were always bound to be a huge-scale band when it comes to live shows. Their own name is derived from Ramstein, the name of a 1988 airshow in West Germany where over 30 people died after several planes collided with each other, causing them to catch fire and fall into the audience. Even their name lends itself to pyrotechnics and huge explosions, as unfortunate a link as it is. Throughout their 20-year history, the band's live stunts have earned them great notoriety, from instruments being set alight (the three guitarists actually have flamethrowers strapped to their guitars), to UFOs above the stage shooting lasers down to the audience below. Never ones to be outdone for pyrotechnics, the Rammstein live show even employs such props as spark-throwing drumsticks, a firework bow and arrow contraption, smoke-emitting costumes, and even shoes that, when jumping, shoot sparks out of the sides. Perhaps most infamous, however, is the hosepipe that frontman Till Lindemann has strapped down his trousers. During a gig, he'll 'whip it out' and start spraying the audience with liquid as if this were some kind of 4D movie experience. What's in the liquid? Well, it used to be milk, but after some, ahem, 'clogged pipes' and 'bad odours', they changed it to a mixture of water and alcohol. You don't get that at a One Direction concert!
