10 Overlooked Extreme Metal Albums From 2013

4. Chapters - The Imperial Skies (Self-Released)

http://youtu.be/5d4efWeXAr8 The Lowdown: Metalcore was a dirty word in 2013. Heck, even one time genre darlings Misery Signals had to self release their new album Absent Light, after a five year wait, and it barely registered. Enter the UK's Chapters, cut from the same cloth as country mates Sylosis but with a more progressive, airy and uplifting sound including flamenco breaks and utterly gorgeous female vocals, Chapters look to reinvigorate metalcore outside of the UK with their adventurous debut album that's part Shai Hulud, part Isis, part Machine Head and part Woe of Tyrants. I don't think many folks outside of the UK or metalcore circles heard this. Heck, it took a random Facebook plug from fellow Brits Dyscarnate for me to notice them, and I'm glad I did - as will you be. Recommended If You Like: Shai Hulud, Sylosis, Misery Signals

I am metal. I am so metal I ejaculate mercury. OK, love puppies, pro football and my daughter, so how's that for balance? I own a little metal blog called teethofthedivine.com and used to write for Metal Maniacs, Unrestrained magazines and currently help out with Hails and Horns and New Noise magazines. Yeah- I guess I am metal.
