10 Overshadowed Albums By Famous Musicians

9. Arctic Monkeys - Suck It And See

Experiencing both backlash and adoration after their brazen third album 'Humbug's blatant disregard for the much of of the lad rock crowd that had first been swayed by the Sheffield band's tales of drunken escapades and small-town triumphs on their first two records, Arctic Monkeys felt it necessary to undergo yet another radical makeover.

Now staunch advocates of the 'rip it up and start again' mentality, Turner and co's style began to make its transition from scruffiness to the rockabilly looks of a bygone era and with that came a sound that was more mature than they'd ever managed to muster.

An apt title for an album that fans approached with caution after the release of the drastically different singles 'Brick By Brick' and the thunderous 'Don't Sit Down Cause I've Moved Your Chair, 'Suck It And See' arrived in June of 2011 and allowed the quartet to make the final transition from the shy indie kids of the past to refined musicians that could don the cap of sauve balladeers or fully fledged rock 'n' rollers at will.

The soft and romantic heart of the album lies with 'Love Is A Laserquest', 'Reckless Serenade' and a phenomenal rework of 'Piledriver Waltz' while the influence of their trips to Josh Homme's studios are evident on 'The Hellcat Spangled Shalala', 'Library Pictures' and 'All My Own Stunts.'

Containing many of Alex Turner's finest witticisms, the album seems sadly forgotten in the conversation of the band's best record with some still pining for the raucousness of the past and others pledging allegiance to the less nuanced yet still effective sound of 'A.M' that would follow in 2013. With rumours abound that they'll be heading into the studio sooner than we'd first thought, take some time out of your day and marvel at this record's fantastically realised songs.
