10 Perfect 1970s Rock Albums With No Bad Songs

3. Ramones - Ramones

You might not believe it if you were there at the time, but rock was in some serious trouble in the mid '70s. Although acts like Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple were some of the biggest names in music, the more grandiose sides of their sound were leaving the regular rock fans with nothing to grab onto. There needed to be something a bit more real, and four misfits from the boroughs of New York City gave us an answer on the Ramones' debut.

Compared to the 7 minute epics that you get from the head hanchos of the music business, this was the punchiest record of the time, with some songs that didn't even stretch beyond the 2 minute mark. They were also dead simple too, with nothing but straight power chords played from beginning to end at lightning speed.

While most enthusiasts would claim that there wasn't that much to this stripe of rock music, we were about to witness the birth of what we know to be punk. As opposed to indulging in solos and and coming off as pretentious, the Ramones gave you everything you needed in a few minutes and never felt like they wasted your time from the moment the song started. For as much as a 9 minute solo might seem fun, no amount of time can replicate this kind of fury.
