10 Perfect 1980s Hard Rock Albums With No Bad Songs
6. Dr. Feelgood - Motley Crue
By the end of the decade, hair metal had started to really overstay its welcome at the party. Though the sounds of Twisted Sister and Poison were fun back in the day, there weren't much to choose from in the late '80s unless you thought the future of rock was someone like Bang Tango. In the middle of the chaos though, one of the kings of the scene gave us their magnum opus right as the decade came to a close.
After years of struggling to reach the top spot in the charts, Motley Crue decided to go all out for Dr. Feelgood, getting together with Bob Rock in Vancouver to make the best album they knew how to. Outside of the new outlook, Nikki Sixx actually came out all guns blazing with the songs on here, making for tracks that fit somewhere between hair metal and classic rock like Same Ol Situation and the title track.
There's definitely a seedy part of these songs that feels like they're coming from a back alley in West Hollywood, but the rhythm of Tommy Lee's drums and Mick Mars' bluesy background gives off the impression that the songs are a lot more worn in than you would think. While hair metal didn't have a prayer once the '90s kicked into high gear, this was a decent last go around from one of the titans of the scene.
