10 Perfect Albums That Changed Rock History
1. Nevermind - Nirvana
So how would any other album be able to best something like Sgt. Peppers? I mean, The Beatles practically kickstarted the '60s Revolution with that album and managed to make the entire public reinterpret what they thought rock and roll could be. As it turns out, the only way that you could find something that can change rock that drastically is to just make an entirely different revolution.
As the '80s sounds of hair metal started to really overstay their welcome, Kurt Cobain managed to wipe away all of the placid sounds of the day on Nevermind. With an incredible gift for melody and a punk rock attitude in their presentation, Nirvana were a lot more down to Earth than anything else you saw on MTV, which made them the next big thing in rock and roll.
Since this wasn't what we were used to though, this became known as the alternative movement, bringing with it acts like Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and many others that may have been considered left of the dial just a few years prior. Even with it being 30 years old, Nevermind still sounds like it's the future of what modern rock would become. Because when you've hit a nerve dead on like that, it's not just an album of the year candidate anymore. It's in the conversation of one of the most important musical statements ever made.
