10 Perfect Alternative Albums That Deserve A Lot More Love

8. Standing on the Shoulder of Giants - Oasis

The end of the '90s really marked the end of an era for Oasis' career. Since they had already lost the momentum that they had off the back of the Be Here Now tour, they also had to deal with treading water after losing Bonehead and Guigsy in the early '00s. It was already a tough sell to get back in the good graces of the fans after Be Here Now, but they actually managed to give it a fair shot on Standing on the Shoulder of Giants.

And that's because this is probably the most Beatles sounding record that Oasis have ever made, which is really saying something. After opening with a decent instrumental to get things started, there's a lot more '60s influences on this record, like the full on Beatles song Go Let It Out or the Eastern sounding effects going on in Who Feels Love?.

Considering the egos that each of the Gallaghers have, they both have their heart on their sleeve on this record as well, from Liam stepping up to the plate with a song for his son and Noel taking on his anxiety issues on Gas Panic. Along with a few stellar B-sides, some songs even hint at the fallout behind the Oasis enterprise, like when Noel assumes vocal duties on Where Did It All Go Wrong?. With their glory period in the rearview, you'd have to wonder if Noel was thinking about if his time in the spotlight was starting to run short.
