10 Perfect Band Members That Everyone Forgets About

9. Meg White - The White Stripes

There are probably thousands of fans that are already scratching their heads at why Meg White would even end up on a list like this. For the past few years, she has garnered a pretty nasty reputation in the rock community, with people mentioning how her style of drumming is easy to the point of parody. And they'd be right, it is unbelievably easy...that's the whole point.

If you go through the White Stripes' discography, Meg's style is definitely not an answer to John Bonham or anything, but the whole concept of the band wouldn't have worked with anyone else behind the kit. While Jack kept getting better and better working out different techniques on guitar and keyboards, Meg's rock solid tempo kept everything strangely grounded, balancing out the sound of Jack's experiments. This wasn't just being in the right place at the right time either. Going through a song like Seven Nation Army, Meg knows exactly what she's doing, giving the song a pulse before letting the rest of the song come screaming in on the chorus.

Outside of just the drums, Meg was also the kind of sidekick to Jack on the microphone, having a much more delicate voice for songs like In the Cold Cold Night and matching him step for step on the more lighthearted tracks like Rag and Bone. Jack had always made mention of The White Stripes being the perfect example of what could be done with the bare essentials, and Meg is the perfect example of 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it.'
