10 Perfect Beatles Songs With No Flaws
4. Something - Abbey Road
As the years have gone on, the Fabs haven't really been lacking in their fair share of love songs. Who are we kidding, almost every single song that the Beatles have ever released have managed to tackle a different perspective on what love means to people, from All You Need is Love to Can't Buy Me Love. The Lennon/McCartney partnership may have had a lot to talk about when it comes to that one emotion, but the purest version of it actually came from the group's quietest member.
After being in the dark for most of the band's early years, George Harrison was coming into his own as a songwriter by the time of Abbey Road, and gave us one of his most elegant love songs with Something. The Quiet One was initially so shy about writing his own songs that he gave this one away at first, offering it to Joe Cocker to sing before eventually singing it himself for the Beatles.
While the Beatles' love songs before were still upbeat and cheerful, Something hits on an emotion that's a lot more difficult to put into words, as Harrison talks about finding the love of his life and wondering where this emotion will take him in the years that follow. John and Paul may have be the co captains of the band, but they had one of the greatest songwriters hidden right underneath their noses as well.
