10 Perfect Hard Rock Albums Of The 1970s

3. Ramones - Ramones

It's hard to think about it when looking back, but rock was having a serious problem at the end of the '70s.

For as many people were making their millions off of some of the most insane riffs in history, it felt like the genesis of rock and roll had become detached from the garages where it started in. We needed a real shakeup, and you had to look in the lower boroughs of New York to find it.

After having to suffer through the sounds of prog rock, the Ramones' self titled debut brought everything we knew about rock and roll back to the drawing board. With no solos to speak of and a distinct lack of polish, every one of these songs was meant to hit you over the head from the minute it starts. And hell, most of them only tend to last for a minute or so, with the whole 14 track experience flying by in just under a half hour.

Even so, these songs are meant to become ingrained in your psyche the second they enter your eardrums, with Blitzkrieg Bop becoming one of the most celebrated songs in punk history. Move over, rock and roll. It was time for the street kids to step up and show you all how it's done.
