10 Perfect Hard Rock Albums Of The 2000s
5. Stadium Arcadium - Red Hot Chili Peppers
Any musician is sort of tempting fate when they decide to release a double album. Though you might have a profound sense of inspiration and write some of the best songs you can, it's very easy to go into the realm of getting way too bloated for your own good. When you have as many influences as the Chili Peppers though, you don't need to worry about a thing.
Across Stadium Arcadium, these kings of California have clearly grown into a much more mature band than Blood Sugar Sex Magik. Although you do hear the traditional funk rock stylings on songs like Hump De Bump, there's a lot more varied songs on here, like the radio rock of Tell Me Baby echoing the kind of laidback vibe that you got from albums like Californication.
There are also many songs that dip in and out of easy listening territory as well, like the acoustic led backing track of Slow Cheetah or eventually settling on a slower groove on the song Hard to Concentrate. This is still a Chili Peppers record though, and the rock chops are still all over this thing, with both Flea and John Frusciante turning in some of their most memorable performances on here. In a world where most double records just feel like a bunch of fluff, Stadium Arcadium is a testament to just how much the Chili Peppers can do.
