10 Perfect Hard Rock & Metal Albums That Bands HATE

5. All Hope Is Gone - Slipknot

The idea of a metal band like Slipknot reaching the top of the charts feels almost impossible. Since most of these guys hide their identities behind masks and are meant to be for the outcasts of society, it feels a little bit strange to see something like All Hope is Gone topping the charts in its prime. If you had to ask their ringleader, this was not good news at all.

When Clown saw this record go to number one, he couldn't help but be a little bit disheartened that this was the record that the public latched onto. Unlike the previous few Slipknot records, this one felt the most disconnected as a band, despite having most of the recording sessions taking place in their home state of Iowa.

Though they had the opportunity to go home every night, that pent up aggression was just not there as much as it was on earlier records.

That's not to say that this record doesn't have its fair share of highlights though, with the title track and Psychosocial being some of the heaviest songs that the band would ever write during this era.

Seeing how this was the one that lacked vision, why anyone would choose this album as the one to send to #1 still perplexes Clown to this day. Slipknot may have softened up on a few songs, but no amount of softness can take away from the twisted feeling of their sound.
