10 Perfect Hard Rock Songs That Are Ridiculously Long
7. We Will Fall - The Stooges
There's a good chance that no member of the Stooges was looking to be in one of the biggest bands in the world when they first got the ball rolling. At the time, these ragtag misfits from Detroit were all into the heavier side of rock and were just looking to ride the wave to see where it took them. Iggy Pop always knew that there was a bit of a darker quality to this kind of music, and We Will Fall is something that could have easily been ripped out of a horror movie.
After already going through classics like I Wanna Be Your Dog on the Stooges' debut album, this song feels like you've walked down the wrong alley in Detroit, with the guitars operating as a drone throughout most of the piece. If you base this song on Iggy's disaffected performance, it doesn't sound like much, but it gets all the more demented when you hear the background singers, intoning us to "run child, child run." This is kind of thing that feels beyond just a bunch of guys playing music, almost sounding like you've run across a cult that will end up offering you up as a sacrifice if you aren't careful.
Even though they have 10 minutes to play around with, The Stooges don't feel the need to fill out the rest of the song with mile lone guitar solos or anything like that. This was the kind of music that spoke to the more primal side of your brain, and it was only a matter of time before they tapped into something even more disturbing.
