10 Perfect Hip Hop Music Samples Of Classic Rock Songs

1. Eminem's 'Till I Collapse - We Will Rock You (Queen)

Queen's "We Will Rock You" (1977) contains the most recognised percussive beat in all of rock. The signature 'stomp-stomp-clap', was outrageously simple but devastatingly effective. Given hip hop artists' predilection for adopting recognised, catchy samples, it was only a matter of time before someone lifted this beat to lay some bars over.

Back in the early 2000s Eminem was at the top of his game. You can stick on any of his records from this period and chances are you'll know at least 80% of the track list - even his non-single tracks were charting. No one was as controversial or as wildly celebrated. It's a given that not all of his material has aged that well - hip hop has always had an uncomfortable association with homophobia - but there's no denying this guy's aptitude for crafting exquisite rhymes.

He was receiving flack from all sides during the 2000s. The media was out to paint him as a corrupting and violent influence on America's youth, and a number of his contemporaries thought him a fraud. "'Till I Collapse" was one of his many scathing responses to the criticism. Driven by the unrelenting Queen beat, Em delivered a barrage of bars, demonstrating his unique and unrivalled talent.
