10 Perfect Metal Albums With No Bad Songs
7. Hybrid Theory - Linkin Park
As long as metal has been around, none of the biggest bands at the time could really be considered that family friendly. Black Sabbath was never going to be on primetime with the Monkees, and the chances of a band like Metallica sharing a stage with the likes of Poison were pretty much slim to none. There was a way to cross over to the mainstream though, and Linkin Park did it by putting every genre that made them tick under one roof.
While Hybrid Theory may be considered dated by fans these days because of the production, the actual songs have aged gracefully, with Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda having incredible chemistry right out of the gate. Along with the harsh riffs from Brad Delson, one of the biggest strengths of the band tended to be the lyrics, capturing that feeling of teenage angst and abandonment in a way that didn't really feel contrived or forced coming out of these guys.
You could tell that someone like Fred Durst was doing a schtick most of the time, but you felt every single word that was coming out of Chester's mouth, along with Joe Hahn providing DJ scratches and digitized distortion to make everything feel like it's breaking down whenever they reach the point of no return. This should have been the time when nu metal was being read its last rights, but if you touch on something this potent, you're not going to forget it for the rest of your life.
