10 Perfect Metal Albums With ZERO Bad Songs
2. Master of Reality - Black Sabbath
The worlds of heavy metal and stoner rock have never been that far apart, and for good reason. Both genres have guitars tuned really low, they rely primarily on the groove of the music, and they may or may not have members that like to indulge in the occasional blunt or two. If you want to know what truly links both of the genres together, it's that both of them saw their birth with Master of Reality.
Even though Black Sabbath had been a big name well before this album with records like Paranoid, this is where they truly start to capitalize on what makes them some of the greatest musicians in the world. Going even darker than their previous outing, Tony Iommi's idea to tune the guitar strings even lower made for one of the gnarliest sounds to ever come out of an electric guitar, especially when tearing through songs like Into the Void and Sweet Leaf.
More than just the lower notes, the actual riffs crafted here are some of the most evil sounding pieces of music from the past century, with Children of the Grave standing as one of the true masterpieces in the Sabbath catalog. The beginnings of acts like Kyuss and Monster Magnet still live in this album's shadow to this day.
