The biggest crime that many nu metal bands would commit was the lack of follow through. Though many bands were able to lure listeners in with their visceral music, you would see just how shallow they were once you put on a full record of theirs. Aside from the actual music, Corey Taylor's lyrics are some of the most disturbing diatribes ever commited to tape, as he talks about abandonment, hatred, and aggression, and throws it right back at you in a sonic ball of spite.

Despite every single disturbing thing about this album, it managed to top the album charts in many countries, which seems unprecedented in retrospect. Iowa is definitely not the most pleasant listening experience in the world, but the music on here helps trigger that more animalistic side of your brain.
