10 Perfect Post Grunge Albums In Rock Music History

6. Dizzy Up the Girl - Goo Goo Dolls

The entire career trajectory of the Goo Goo Dolls from their early days to now just seems like it shouldn't make sense. For all of the secretary style of rock that people claim that they made in their prime, they were actually way more legit back in the day, with a lot of their early albums going in a more punk rock direction than where they ultimately ended up. Once everything got turned down though, there was still a damn good band waiting for us on Dizzy Up the Girl.

As much as people like to put this record up on a pedestal solely for the inclusion of Iris, there's a lot more interesting songs on here than the big smash. Being much more of an acoustic affair this time around, both John Rzeznik and Robby Takac have some incredible chemistry from one song to the next, combining some unique guitar interplay with some vocal harmonies here and there that are reminiscent of some Beatles techniques.

Although Rzeznik gets a lot of the praise because of his more radio ready voice, Takac came through with some great cuts on here as well, like January Friend sounding like if the '90s had to be summed up into one song. This album is definitely dated in some spots, but this is one of the few instances where it's dated for all the right reasons.
