10 Perfect Post Grunge Albums In Rock Music History

7. Happiness is Not a Fish - Our Lady Peace

Of all the great grunge bands to come to the forefront in the genre's prime, you never really saw too many come from Canada. Although you did have acts like Bush coming over from the U.K., nothing really landed a punch that the guys from Seattle managed to make just south of the border. For all the people who think that Nickelback is the reason why Canada doesn't work for grunge, allow your humble author to raise you Our Lady Peace.

Since this came out right at the tail end of the '90s, it almost feels strange to hear grunge interpolated like this. At a time when all of the bands were getting a lot more grizzly with their delivery, Raine Maida is an absolute powerhouse vocalist on the high side, going for some of the most chaotic vocal runs to have come out of the scene. Along with the grunge tropes, there are also some more nuanced production techniques, which makes the entire album feel almost futuristic in its tone.

Much like the grunge bands of old though, this album also goes for a lot more variety, from a handful of acoustic cuts to having jazz great Elvin Jones appear on the record's final track Stealing Babies. Though OLP never managed to catch as much traction as they did up north, most of y'all are missing out on one of Canada's best kept secrets.
