10 Perfect Rock Debut Albums Of The 2000s
5. A Fever You Can't Sweat Out - Panic At the Disco
As time has gone on, Brendon Urie has really built up his empire with Panic at the Disco. With most of the original members out of the lineup now, the band that's been bringing you songs like High Hopes and Hey Look Ma, I Made It is more than comfortable settling into the pop rock side of things. If you were to see the early days of A Fever You Can't Sweat Out though, you'd swear that you were listening to two completely different bands.
And you'd be correct, considering that Brendon wasn't even the main songwriter at the start of the band's career. With Ryan Ross behind most of the songwriting on here, there's a lot more cheeky wordplay in the delivery here, especially when you get a load of the amount of Chuck Palahniuk references in a lot of the song titles.
You can't really say that these guys were exactly subtle either, playing up the whole twisted circus angle in a way that looks a lot more dated these days than it has any right to. Though Brendon has tried to scrub this era of Panic clean for a good long while, you can't deny that the hooks on here hit just as hard as they did when they were released. This was the era of Panic! at the Disco, and believe me, at the time, that '!' actually meant something.
