10 Perfect Rock Songs Of The 2000s

4. No One Knows - Queens of the Stone Age

At the turn of the millennium, rock and roll had begun to seriously lose its swagger. Whether it was because of the anti rock mentality still lingering from the '90s or the new school of rock and rollers, the hip hop community was doing a much better job putting some attitude into their material. This was the kind of music that was supposed to make you rebel against your parents, and Queens of the Stone Age seemed to put the roll back into rock and roll when they reached the top of the charts.

While No One Knows is not an intricate song by any stretch of the imagination, the different moving parts are always exactly where they need to be, as Josh Homme's voice floats above everything else. With the powerful drums of Dave Grohl in tow, the song's off kilter bounce is what made it so infectious, being less of a stomp and more of a groove, as the rest of the band keep the song swinging, especially after the guitar solo where everything drops out and it's just bass guitar.

Without having any genre tag to their name, Homme also understood the importance of having an aesthetic whenever you strapped on your guitar. Before even listening to the lyrics, this is the kind of music that's the epitome of sleazy, offering you some of your wildest dreams only if you're willing to make a deal with the devil to make it happen.
