10 Perfect Singles By Terrible Rock Bands

7. Wheatus: Teenage Dirtbag (2000)

In the history annals, Teenage Dirtbag will be listed among the most culturally significant moments of the 2000s. We had the Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Eminem, the rise of Beyoncé, the iPod, the list goes on... , but nothing came close to the phenomena of this song.

Look up the definitions of 'over night success' and one 'hit wonder', you'll see a picture of Brendan B. Brown, complete with a velour tracksuit, wrap-around shades and a bucket hat. After this it didn't matter that Wheatus never released another song of note, they'd done enough for the world.

There was a time when this track was so over played you couldn't bare to hear it again. The very notion of someone singing " two tickets to Iron Maiden baby" in that pixie voice, was enough to send a shiver down your spine. But despite the incessant relentlessness with which this single was played, it's next to impossible not join in with the chorus whenever it pops up now.

For every awkward teen, this was the anthem to youth.
