5. The Doors - Break On Through (To The Other Side)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-h5j_mAEEdw From the album: The Doors (1967) The Doors defined themselves with "Break On Through", vividly bringing to life their iconic psychedelic, counterculture Blues-Rock via Jim Morrison's legendary vocals and a backing band of unique individuals unafraid to experiment, unbound by youthful exuberance and fearlessly charting new territory into areas of Rock n Roll yet to be explored. Famously, Elektra Records' censored the, not so subtle, drug use Jim Morrison referred to in the line "she gets high". The original album, and crazily all subsequent reissues until well into the 1990's, had the word "high" removed, Morrison instead seemingly singing the confusing "she gets" four times before a final howl and no real pay off as to what 'she was getting'. Fortunately, recent releases had the sense to restore the full lyric and it's insane to think we had to wait that long to hear the full, unedited version. She gets high, they get high, we get high, "Break On Through" really is one hell of a trip though two and a half minutes of spiritual mumbo jumbo and souped-up Rock n Roll meets Brazilian Bossa Nova and it's the perfect way to begin one of the biggest selling debuts of all time.

I love Heavy Metal, and generally anything that involves a guitar and loud noises, so I figured it was about time I put all the useless information in my head to good use and start writing a few things. Most of the time I'll be writing nonsense but occasionally I may surprise myself and appear half-way knowledgable.....but you can be the judge of that. Thanks for your fleeting attention!
