Green Day's unconventional career path (rising to prominence again a decade after bursting onto the scene) has led to a more diverse fanbase than most bands. Few arguments divide Green Day fans more than the question of their best album; generally speaking, old-hands tend to prefer the earlier albums, while newer listeners swear by material from American Idiot onwards - although there are obviously many exceptions to this rule. The two most oft-championed albums are Dookie and American Idiot, although many fans make cases arguing that Kerplunk!, Insomniac or Warning represent the band's best material. Even Nimrod gets some love.
