Punk's great eh? Everybody loves a bit of snarly, snarky punk here and there. It's good to dance to but often also inspires revolution and opposing thought, something that is more necessary than ever in the increasingly dystopian world we seem to live in. However, as with all social movements, one must know the history before one truly understands. This is more important than ever with music. You certainly don't want to be showing off how much you love a band, only to have some self-proclaimed expert to snidely tell you that they "sold out" years ago, and that they totally ripped off anyway. So forget The Ramones, forget The Sex Pistols, and forget The bloody Clash. One of the great things about punk is that it comes in many guises, and chances are most people like a bit of one, even if it's just the sugary lite-punk styling of Fallout Boy and their ilk. This list is, obviously, by no means complete or 100% representative of Punk-As-A-Whole. How could it be? Don't be silly. But if you like a bit of what is generally conceived of as punk and fancy a brief history of other bands that have also been conceived as punk that are really pretty good, then step right this way!
