10 Punk, Rock And Metal Bands You Need To Hear Right Now

9. Press Club

Press Club are an indie punk four-piece from Melbourne, Australia who perform emotionally charged songs with an impressive level of swagger and self-assuredness for such a young band.

After releasing their powerful debut "Late Teens" at the tail end of 2018, Press Club followed up with sophomore effort "Wasted Energy" just a few months later, showing a band full of hunger and drive while displaying an enviable aptitude for writing serious bangers. See "Headwreck", "Separate Houses" and "I'm In Hell".

Where "Late Teens" is more of a showcase for Natalie Foster's powerful vocals and evocative lyrics, the production on "Wasted Energy" gives the rest of the band more of a chance to shine with Greg Rietwyk's rasping guitar, Iain MacRae's stabbing bass and Frank Lees' thunderous drums all combining to incredible effect.

Press Club impress as a live band too and now have an extensive back catalogue of hits to bolster their furious and impassioned performances, as this live recording of "New Year's Eve" illustrates.
