10 Rap Albums That Every Rock Fan Should Listen To
1. The Eminem Show - Eminem
Out of everyone in the rap community, Eminem never seemed too far away from rock from the very beginning. Across the Marshall Mathers LP, there was plenty of guitar playing going on behind the scenes, and even Lose Yourself had a riff that was ripped straight out of Led Zeppelin's Kashmir. Once he had the ear of America though, Mr. Mathers released a rock album in disguise on the Eminem Show.
Being more in the spirit of rock and roll than actual practice, this entire album flows a lot like those old guitar records that you used to blast back in the day, whether it's opening up with the gargantuan White America or when he's taking the piss on songs like Without Me. You have to remember that Em was bigger than anyone else in the game, and these are the kind of songs that seemed destined for stadiums, complete with some of the most adrenaline pumping tunes of his career like Till I Collapse.
There are even songs that are full blown rock tracks if they didn't have Shady spitting his words all over it, like on Sing For the Moment where he lifts the chorus from Aerosmith's Dream On and turns it into the most cathartic redemption song you've ever heard. The Eminem Show might not be the most wholesome performance, but it's one that rockers will want to see time after time.
