A team is only as good as its leader, and Kevin Abstract is one hell of a leader. The Texan frontman is primarily known for his hooks such as those on GOLD and SWEET, but his verses give listeners insight onto why he's so important to the group.

Abstract's verses primarily discuss his homosexuality, a thing rarely seen in modern rap, or in the history of rap. He addresses this on the song JUNKY where he says "Why you always rap about bein' gay? / 'Cause not enough n****s rappin' be gay / Where I come from n****s get called "f****t" and killed." It's a stark reminder of just how dangerous it is for Abstract to be in an industry with such a long history of homophobia.

Thanks to this, Brockhampton have gained a lot of support from the LGBT community for increasing their representation in this section of music, and improving rap culture like very few can.

While each member of Brockhampton provides something unique and important, Abstract's look on the rap industry is so unique and almost unheard of that it makes the group one of the most important for the future as they continue to represent the voiceless.
