4. The Style

A lot of people seem to think that Alex Turner has lost his roots: he wears leather jackets, goes out with an American model and sports a quiff that John Travolta would admire. But style's always been an important part of the band's image, and I'm not just talking about the sharp suits and leather trousers that the band seem to have adopted in the last couple of years. This is a band that have collected awards dressed as the Village People and country gentlemen. They performed on Jonathan Ross's show dressed as clowns. Matt Helders wore a shell-suit with his name on the back during their Olympic Opening Ceremony performance. How can you not love a man that does that? When asked by Jo Whiley how they gave such a storming performance at Glastonbury this year, Alex pointed out that they made sure to "Cover ever fabric." Maybe it really is the secret to their success.
